My village

My native village Thenari is a famous historical and religious village .it is situated in palakkad district ,kerala state in india. I wish to elaborate the history.
Kerala was brought out from the sea by throwing the axe after his ‘’THAPAS’’to reduce the sin of killing his own mother by the order of father Jamadhakni maharshi . to reduce the penance he constructed 108  siva temples all over india. Madhyaranya siva temple is the 6th one which is in our village. This village is famous for temples.

There is a sree Rama temple which is known as saragangathreetha. There is a bull statue in this temple , since the water through the bulls mouth use to come throughout day and night for years. people says that the water is coming from river Ganga which is flowing at Banaras Uttar Pradesh   state in India .the real story of water coming from Uttar Pradesh  Varanasi  to theneri is as follows .
After the battle between Rama and Ravana  at Srilanka to take back his wife Sita, They were coming back to Ayodhya. First they reached to Rameswaram which is at Tamilnadu. There Sree Rama decided to construct a Siva temple. There they install a siva linga with the help of sand by Sitadevi since Hanuman took a long time to bring the Spadika linga from mount Himalaya. After reaching  with linga Hanuman stood in front of Rama with linga. Rama told him to remove the Sita prathesta lingam and replace the  spadiga lingam there.
Being a strong man Hanuman was not able to remove the Sita prathista linga. He came to know the power  of Goddess Sita. He left his ego and he became a real servent of the masters( rama and lakshmana). From they started there journey to Ayodhya .They reached to theneri and decided to take rest for some time. They stayed in a rocky area which is now know as ‘’Shanguchakrapara’’. All battalions of monkeys including  Jambavan  and Sugriva  seated  around  them on the rock. Now we can see big and small pits on the rock. People in the area belives  that  these pits are buttocks rested areas of monkeys.
At that time Sitadevi feel very thirsty, they searched for drinking water around the area. They didn’t get it. Sree Rama told Lakshmana to arrow nearby place to make a big pit to get   water. But the water came from the pit was muddy in colour which is not drinkable. Then Sree Rama put an arrow and the water came as an artesian well like and the water started flowing like fountain. When the  water started coming  from  Ganga, goddess Ganga devi send one of his deciple neer kumizhi (water bubble) through this water to thenari. After reaching at thenari she saw sree rama standing there, she bowed sree rama and she gave the news to ganga devi. But sree rama told there, since you come over here you stay here itself and look after the people in thenari. And now she is called as neerkumizhi amman and also kown as thrikkumuzhi amman.  And they made a well the on the artesian water and they placed a bull statue and opening it’s mouth nearby the well and the water will be flowing through the mouth of the bull. The bull statue is in top of the well. And flowing water throughout the year.
Sreerama, Lakshmana and Sita came to madhyaranya siva temple and worshipped Lord Shiva and they started their journey back. During Tippu sultan’s period in south india he damaged almost hindu temples. At that time this temple also got damaged. And the renewal of temple started during 2003 by thenari people. Within 2 years the construction had finished and 2005 temple kumbabisheka was done. The most speciality of the new siva temple is the linga of shiva is made by parasurama. While renewal the village people tried to put new shiv linga they failed to remove the old version. So they believes that it is a most powerful one. But rest of the whole statues like subramania , Vishnu, kaasi viswanatha, moolaganapathy, ayyappa, neerkumuzhi, sapthamathrukal all are new ones. The big lotus pond nearby the temple is also fomous. It is also called homakunda. There is a small well inside the temple that well is called agnikunda.
The most of thenari villagers are Farmers, cotton weavers, carpenters and labours. Upper middle class, middle class and lower class people are more. Main language used in this village is Malayalam and few people in tamil (mainly weavers) and telegu(lingayath) spoken people also there. There is a highschool, avyurvedic hospital and a M.C.H centre in this village.
The major transportation service to this village is private bus service, it connects palakkad via thenari to kozhinjampara. This beautiful village is 15 kilometers away from palakkad.
The nearby towns to this village are palakkad, kozhinjampara and chittiur.
